This AFCON betting review focuses on the AFCON results for the upcoming elite African tournament. Since the Nations Cup is still months away, we will propose our speculative predictions of the AFCON fixtures and AFCON groups.
AFCON Group Results 2024
The AFCON championship is months away, and football fans are waiting expectantly. Amidst the euphoria of it all, here’s how the AFCON results could play out.
⚽ Group A
Nigeria and Ivory Coast are the powerhouses in this group, as well as tournament favourites. Equatorial Guinea should edge Guinea-Bissau to clinch the final qualification slot in this group. The Super Eagles should finish top of the group, with hosts Ivory Coast a close second.
⚽ Group B
Seven-time AFCON winners, Egypt will emerge as the group winner of this Nations Cup Group B. Ghana also has a strong squad featuring the likes of Partey and will settle for second fiddle. The winner of the Cape Verde vs Mozambique AFCON fixture should be able to claim the the last qualification place.
⚽ Group C
This group features the defending champions (Senegal), five-time champions (Cameroon), Guinea and Gambia. Senegal and Cameroon should win this all too easily. Guinea and Gambia will likely contest for the final qualification slot for the Nations Cup knockout stage.
⚽ Group D
Algeria, Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Angola are the participants in this group. Burkina Faso will claim the second qualifying spot, while Algeria should have no problem finishing as the group winner.
⚽ Group E
Tunisia and Mali are the frontrunners of this group. The AFCON rivals are paired together in a rematch of AFCON 2021 and should qualify together with South Africa, while Namibia crashes out. Tunisia to finish as the group winner, with Mali a close second and South Africa claiming one of the best third-place finishes.
⚽ Group F
Morocco and Zambia are expected to win the group, with either Tanzania or DR Congo claiming the final qualification berth. The Atlas Lion should win this AFCON group, hands down and undisturbed.
AFCON Qualifier Results for Uganda
Uganda finished third in the AFCON qualifiers behind Algeria and Tanzania. As such, they did not qualify for the AFCON finals taking place in Ivory Coast. A first or second place in their Group F during the AFCON qualifiers would have changed their fate.
The Uganda football national team must go back to the drawing board and re-strategise to have better AFCON results. One thing is sure, Uganda will have the opportunity to make a different impression when the next AFCON qualifiers come around. They only have to be ready when the time comes.
AFCON Results for Uganda
This section of our AFCON results betting review focuses on Uganda’s results in previous Nations Cups. We spotlighted their AFCON results from the five preceding AFCON finals, as shown below.
2021
The Cranes did not qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, unlike in the previous edition.
2019
Uganda made it out of the group stages with one win, one draw and one loss. This was a notable achievement for The Cranes. However, their AFCON journey ended when they lost to Senegal in the Round of 16.
2017
The Ugandans qualified for the AFCON at Gabon – this was better than the previous edition. Notwithstanding, Uganda’s performance at this tournament was unpromising as they failed to progress beyond the group stages.
2015
The Uganda football national team did not feature in this Cup of Nations. They had a miserable outing during the AFCON qualifier and failed to qualify for the AFCON finals in Equatorial Guinea.
2013
A series of bad results proved too fatal to their Africa Cup of Nations aspiration. The Cranes thus fell short yet again and missed out on the Cup of Nations championship in South Africa.
